For years, REALTOR.com was the number one website for home searches. Lately the shopping public has moved on, however. As they say, consumers vote with their feet. Or eyeballs. There’s been a lot of discussion among we Realtors about the ebb and flow of home shopping website popularity. It’s understandable why other commercial sites might become more popular. For instance, why shop at Realtor.com, when say, Zillow has so many more homes listed for sale?

Buyers ultimately discover that not every home listed for sale at every site is actually available. Some listed homes are Pending Sale (under contract), or are pre-foreclosures, not yet (and perhaps never) listed publicly for sale. Realtor.com takes a direct feed from our MLS, so virtually everything you see there, you can buy. But what if being more accurate is uh, boring?

It’s valid question, in this digital age. And I don’t have the answer. But I thought this month’s REALTOR magazine says something about our organization’s approach to the online and mobile device world.
RealtorMagazineYeah, it’s a print magazine guide to the web. Let’s just say I had trouble getting the links to work.
