Can your real estate agent look you in the eye?

That’s the question posed here by the California Assoication of Realtors when discussing the recent rise in so-called “pocket listings.” These are home sales that never hit the open market. The issue is that the home may not sell for a fair price, and the seller will never know if that was the case. The local housing marketplace sets value, and you’ll never be sure what that value is if your home isn’t seen by all the available buyers. There are other problems too. The potential for conflict of interest from your agent looms large.

Can your agent look you in the eye and recommend a pocket listing?

We typically don’t do pocket listings at The Address Realty, and there is a simple reason why. Unlike many other brokerages, we can get your home seen in the local MLS and everywhere online for a reasonable flat fee. That way you can be sure the home is being seen by the most available buyers, and that a fair value will be found. And you as a seller will save a boatload of money. Your money. More at the link:
