Expensive homes are always fun to see. Here are the top 10 most expensive homes of the 2735 homes that sold in the Shasta Multiple Listing Service (MLS) in 2015. Looks like most of the high end action took place to the east of Redding this year, with some big acreage bringing the big bucks. Click on any of the images to link to more info about the individual homes.

Coming in at #10 is this 3602 sqft 4/2.5 on almost 10 acres overlooking Lake Shasta from OBrien Mountain. Sold for $865,000, we’re told this home belonged to a Realtor and it was listed by Chad Phillips of Vista Real Estate. The lake was full when this view shot was taken, and there are home images at the link.

Number 9 at coincidentally $900,000 is this scenic 557 acres near Manton, The home is a cozy 1900 sqft 3/1. But the property comes with a big and desirable feature: WATER. Listed by Cassie L. Gibson-Gyves of The Real Estate Group.

Number 8 is a luxury residence in the Stanford Hills neighborhood of Redding. A 4000 sqft 4/3 with an amazing indoor/outdoor setting. It sold for $926,000 in 2015, but we recall showing it in 2012 when it was bank owned and sold for $500,000. Nice appreciation, that. Listed by Dominic Dinino of Redding Premiere Realty. Check out the pro photography by John Bradford.

Here at #7 we finally hit the one million dollar price. 700 acres with a 1800 sqft 3/2 near Shingletown.  The 2nd Chance Ranch. Listed by Rob Smyth of House of Realty.

Number 6 is a rare Shasta lakefront property with a home and 20 guest cottages. It sold for $1,150,000 and was listed by Randy Byrd of Platinum Properties.

Here’s a beautiful estate home on the way to Whiskeytown coming in at #5. Listed by Chad Phillips of Vista Real Estate, the 5000 sqft 5/4 home sold for $1,475,000. Every home should come with it’s own helipad.

Our #4 is this spectacular Redding home overlooking the city and river for $1,600,000. Plenty of elbow room as a 6700 sqft 5/4. Listed By Craig and Carol of Coldwell Banker.

#3 is some beautiful acreage in Whitmore.  1100 acres with a 3200 sqft 4/3. Sold for $3,425,000, and represented by Al Swan of Real Living Real Estate Professionals. BTW 1100 acres is 2.3 times the entire area of Monaco, but who’s counting?

If 1100 acres isn’t quite big enough, our #2 is this 2551 acre spread out of Bieber. Sold for $4,250,000 and listed by Donna Utterback of California Outdoor Properties. The house is somewhere in this photo, and is a cozy 1450 sqft 2/2. You’ve got room to expand it, however. The property is nearly 4 square miles.

And our #1 highest priced property is this 567 acre piece of McArthur.  Comes with a 4400 sqft 4/4 and sold for $4,500,000. this one was also listed by Donna Utterback of California Outdoor Properties, who can be said to be having a good year.

I think last year Anselmo Vineyards sold, with 2400 acres and 7 homes for $9,130,000 was tops, so this year didn’t come close to that number. Still, some very nice properties here.

The interesting irony of high-end real estate sales is that takes a lot less work to sell one $3,000.000 home than ten $300,000 homes. Or a hundred $30,000 mobile homes.  Which is why you see so many agents positioning themselves as Luxury Specialists. It’s just simple math.

Hope you enjoyed the post. We are looking forward to another successful year in northstate real estate in 2016. We’re so thankful to be involved in this work, and we are extremely  grateful for your support.

“Uh, you should be careful here.”
StairsJust a little understatement during a recent glamorous real estate episode in Shasta County. It’s not all just big hair and Cadillacs around here.
